The Fell Original Tee is the brand’s first product, and it lays the foundation for their mission: to shift the focus away from synthetics and performance metrics toward gear with a lighter environmental footprint that puts comfort ahead of marginal gains. In short, Fell is for those who simply love the sport; people who want something comfortable, at home in casual settings, but still capable of holding its own as a running tee.

Fell are the new kids on the block: an independent British running brand making innovative, all-natural running gear. They launched in November 2025 with a limited run of tees and virtually no marketing budget, funded by — and still being built around — the founder’s (Josh) full-time job.
Fell was born out of Josh’s passion for running in the wild: days spent battling wind-battered ridgelines and sodden hillsides, or running the length of the coast with only the sound of the sea for company. But the industry’s over-reliance on synthetic materials didn’t sit right with him. Shouldn’t we be protecting these environments that provide us with so much joy, helping to ensure its existence for future generations? Synthetics and the great outdoors is, to say the least, an awkward pairing. As Josh puts it:
It never sat right with us: being out in the wild, yet dressed head-to-toe in plastic, shedding microplastics as we went

To address this, he set out to build a running brand around natural materials only. The Original Tee — the first piece in Fell’s collection — is the result: a blend of lyocell (67%) and cotton (33%). Lyocell is a soft, breathable fabric made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, produced in a closed-loop process that recycles over 99% of water and solvents, making it significantly more eco-friendly than synthetics without sacrificing the things that matter on a run: odour resistance, comfort and durability.
Sustainability is only half the story, though. Nike’s divisive 2026 Boston Marathon campaign made the big players’ priorities pretty clear: running apparel has long favoured technical performance over everyday comfort, and it’s difficult not to see that bleeding into the broader culture — the clock-watching, the split-obsessing, the sense that if you’re not chasing a time, you’re somehow doing it wrong. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, of course. But it does shape what gets made — and for those of us who run simply for the joy of it, the market doesn’t have much to say. That’s where Fell comes in. As they put it:
The hyper-performance running wear that dominates the market today just isn’t our thing. For us, running is about escaping to the hills or the beach, catching up with friends, and exploring new places. More often than not, we’d finish our run at a local pub.
We weren’t obsessed with split times or VO2 max, and we felt that most running gear didn’t truly represent our laid-back, adventurous spirit.
The Collection
At present, Fell offer the Original Tee in sizes S through to XL. There’s five colours to choose from: Frostline, Gritstone, Fern, Ridgeline, and Cairn (white, black, grey, green and red, respectively). You can also opt for a clean back, or go with Fell’s rear logo and their signature ‘Good Day For It’ print — a phrase you’ll commonly hear on the few good days of weather we get here in the UK.

Gritty Verdict
There’s only so much you can say about a t-shirt. But Fell’s Original Tee does its job very well. The lyocell-cotton blend makes for an insanely soft garment that stays comfortable throughout your run — and the fit is relaxed and lightweight enough that, like a good shoe, you simply forget you’re wearing it.
Fell sent across a medium, which sits as a relaxed, slightly oversized fit on my 5’8 frame — exactly how I like my tees to fit. In practice, I’ll typically wear it for three or four runs before washing. That might sound grim, but the lyocell-cotton blend does a genuinely good job of wicking moisture and keeping smells at bay — ideal if, like me, you consider laundry a laborious task too far. On that note, the tees have held up perfectly through numerous wash cycles, with no degradation to speak of. I’d expect them to last a long time.
Owing to that relaxed cut, the Original Tee is also a natural choice for any run that ends at the pub — and mine gets regular use for climbing too, which says plenty about how versatile it is.

What’s Next for Fell?
Fell are expanding their collection for Spring 2027. They’re proposing two main categories:
• Performance will feature 100% merino or an 80/20 merino/Tencel blend, with long sleeve, short sleeve, and singlet options, plus our first merino/Tencel shorts.
• Adventure will take the current blend, refine it from the feedback they’ve received, and position it as the everyday running, hiking, and exploring option at a lower price point. This range will also include short sleeve, long sleeve and singlets, but no shorts (yet).
They’re also planning on adding caps made of Ventile cotton and a Tencel/merino blend.
The early reception has been incredibly strong, and I hope the tee speaks for itself. We really think there is a gap in the market and want to offer runners a genuine alternative to plastic based kit. Our challenge now is to encourage people to make the leap to all natural, which is where a bigger marketing budget will come in handy! Everything we make going forward will be 100% natural and we promise to not take ourselves or running too seriously!
