With a name like Runderwear, you’ve got no choice but to nail the brief (pun absolutely intended). The mission’s simple: create the best running underwear — irritation-free, breathable, moisture-wicking, supportive, and anti-chafe. Thankfully, they’ve done just that. But there’s more to Runderwear than their name suggests. Alongside briefs and boxers for men, and an impressive range of briefs, thongs, hipsters, and sports bras for women, they’ve built out a full lineup of running gear — from socks and technical singlets to thermal baselayers and more. A few months back, we received a care package from Runderwear to review their kit through a period of extensive testing. Stick around to see how it performed. Or, if you’ve already tried Runderwear’s gear and know where this is headed, there’s a handy discount code — 15% off everything, including sale items — waiting for you at the end.

Runderwear Men’s Running Boxer Review

To be completely honest, I don’t have a wealth of experience with running underwear. Until I picked up a pair of shorts with an integrated storage belt — the T8 Sherpa Shorts, to be precise — I’d usually gone for the more convenient 2-in-1 solution. But with the T8s lacking any kind of liner (and having no desire to flash some poor passerby), I had no choice but to pair them with some proper running underwear. I went with the easiest option — another of T8’s creations, the Commandos Running Underwear. The name might sound contradictory, but they’re so thin and lightweight that you really do feel like you’re going commando.
That makes this my first Runderwear Running Boxers review — and only the second pair of specialist running underwear I’ve tested. In funny contrast to the T8s, these ones literally tell you “Don’t run commando” on the inside waistband. They feature a seamless construction to prevent irritation — and it works. They’re impressively comfortable; soft against the skin, supportive without feeling restrictive, and they don’t budge mid-run. They’re not quite as feathery as the T8s, but they feel more robust and offer a touch more warmth. Despite that, the fabric remains breathable and moisture-wicking, so I’ve had no issues wearing them through summer. As we move into autumn and winter, though, they’ll definitely be choosing these over the T8s for the added warmth.
Runderwear claim you’ll stay “100% chafe-free, guaranteed.” I can’t confirm or deny that — I’ve been lucky enough not to deal with chafing in any shorts — but it’s a bold promise, and one you’d like to believe has been thoroughly tested.
It’s also great to see that they’re made from 100% recycled materials certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). All in all, if you’re after the best running underwear — comfortable, durable, and ethically made — Runderwear have options for everyone. The Running Boxers are an excellent choice for men, but their women’s range is every bit as refined. Oh, and if you prefer briefs, they’ve got you covered there too.
Runderwear Anti-Blister High Sock Review

When I first came across Runderwear, I was fairly certain their running underwear would be some of the best in the game — it had to be. But I also assumed some of their other products, like these socks, might just be website fillers. Turns out, I was completely wrong. The Runderwear Anti-Blister High Socks are my favourite running socks — and that’s a category I’ve got plenty of experience with.
In fact, I recently added them to the most durable trail running socks section (and yes, “trail” here can easily be swapped for “road”) of my trail gear roundup. There’s also a most comfortable trail running socks section, and honestly, it was hard to know where to put them because they score top marks in both. If I’d written an anti-blister category, they’d win that too. They really are that good.
To earn their anti-blister status, Runderwear use a double-layer technical fabric designed to reduce friction and eliminate rubbing. Naturally, that makes them a little thicker — and warmer — than many running socks, though not to their detriment. Nonetheless, to keep the balance optimal, they’ve built in breathable zones to regulate temperature and keep your feet dry. Still, with the colder weather coming in, these are the socks I’m reaching for most.
Just like their boxers, Runderwear show their commitment to sustainability by using 100% recycled materials. And, in what seems to be true Runderwear fashion, they’ve gone big with their claims, alleging “100% blister-free comfort — guaranteed.” After a hell of a lot of miles, I can say this much: so far, it’s 100% true.
Runderwear Ultralight Sock Review

Despite weighing just 20g per sock, Runderwear have managed to pack their Ultralight Running Socks with an impressive number of features. As you’d expect from any high-quality running sock, there’s a seamless toe construction for comfort, breathable zones to keep your feet cool, genuine arch support, and a sweat-wicking technical fabric that helps prevent blisters by reducing movement. The fit is snug — almost compression-like — though Runderwear also make a dedicated compression sock if that’s your thing.
While the Anti-Blister High Socks bring some much-needed thickness and warmth, the Runderwear Ultralight Socks are their perfect opposite — a minimalist option for when you want (or need) it. That might be a (necessary or not) decision to shave weight for race day, but it might also be (as I’ve found through testing an inordinate amount of shoes) that sometimes the only change needed to bolster a shoe’s comfortability is a change of sock! Additionally, they’re so light and compact that I often throw a pair in my running vest on longer outings — a handy backup if a mid-run sock change is ever needed.
With the Anti-Blister High Socks and the Ultralight Running Socks, Runderwear have created two of the best running socks on the market — each solving a different problem. From anti-blister protection with a side serving of warmth, to featherweight speed without sacrificing support, it’s refreshing to find one brand that truly excels at both ends of the spectrum.
Runderwear Balance Sports Bra Review

I’ve yet to wear a sports bra (though never say never), so I’m handing it over to our female tester for the Runderwear Balance Sports Bra review:
I’m a huge fan of the Runderwear Balance Sports Bra for several reasons. First, it’s extremely comfortable — snug without feeling restrictive, which has been a common issue for me with other sports bras.
Maybe this is a niche point, but as someone with very sensitive skin, I often find sports bras cause irritation. That hasn’t been the case here. Personally, I think it’s down to the seamless design (which helps prevent chafing) and the breathable, moisture-wicking fabric. You can tell the technical material is doing its job, since sweat build-up can be a major cause of irritation — and I’m yet to have any skin-related problems using the Balance.
As was key when I reviewed the Harrier Kinder 10L, the aesthetics of the Rosa Balance Sports Bra are on point. The colour looks beautiful — understated and calming — and the racerback design is both functional (allowing natural movement) and flattering. Compared to many of my other sports bras, this one feels slightly longer. It’s got more of a crop-top length to it (though I’m admittedly on the smaller side), so feels less revealing.
And on that note — because the fabric has a good bit of thickness to it — my nipples aren’t blatantly poking through, which is always a win.
For comfort, fit, and skin-friendly design, this is up there (so I’m told) with the best sports bras for running — supportive enough for high-impact sessions, yet soft enough to wear all day.
Final Thoughts – Brand Spotlight: Runderwear Review
When I first heard about Runderwear, I wondered how it was possible for a company to survive by only selling specialised running underwear. When I discovered they offered more than that, I expected their additional items to be of significantly lower quality — space fillers, if you will. But Runderwear have proven they’re far more than a niche brand with a clever name. We’ve been impressed with the quality control, attention to detail, thoughtful design elements, and performance of every item we tested. We were also pleasantly surprised by their commitment to sustainability — using recycled materials wherever possible.
Whether it’s their flagship Running Boxers offering all-day comfort, the Anti-Blister High Socks for long winter runs, the Ultralight Socks for race-day minimalism, or the Balance Sports Bra for a soft, stylish, and supportive fit, Runderwear have built a collection that deserves a home in every runner’s drawer.
If you’re after any of the gear we’ve tested, Runderwear are more than worth considering. Sure, your favourite big name brands all make their own version of these items. But with every finger in every pie, you’ve got to wonder how much focus they really give to the finer details. Runderwear, on the other hand, specialise in a small range of products — and they do it bloody well.

Why You Should Trust Us
Most of the items we review are purchased with our own money. On the rare occasion a company sends us a product to review, we will make this clear within the review for complete transparency. If a company does send us an item to review, they have no control over the outcome of the review, and our opinion of any such item is entirely our own. We have never and will never accept money for a positive review. We personally conduct in-depth tests of each item to provide our readers with our thoughts. This is a timely process, and because we generally don’t receive the items for free, we pay full retail price and are subject to the same release dates as the general public. As a result, we have neither the time nor the budget to test and review every shoe or piece of gear like many of our competitors (though, we would absolutely love to!) If there’s a particular piece of running gear or a shoe you would like us to review, please reach out and we will try to accommodate this request.
How to Support Us
If you click through to a retailer and purchase an item through one of the links on our website, we may earn a small commission from that transaction. Similarly, if we provide a unique code for a purchase or free trial, this may also earn us a small commission. This does not increase the price of the item or service for you, though sometimes it may decrease it! Using our codes or clicking our links goes a long way to keeping the site alive and increasing the number of items we can review. If you enjoy our content and are looking to purchase something we have reviewed, we would greatly appreciate you using our links.
How to Get Involved
As a very small team, it’s impossible for us to test and review every shoe or piece of gear that comes onto the market. If you’re a bit of a running shoe (or gear) geek and would like to review anything for us, please reach out to us at team@grittyrunners.co.uk and we would be happy to consider working with you.
Partner Discount Codes
